City of Makarska originated back in the first half of 4th century as an ancient settlement Inaronia, later it was ancient Mucurum to the Makarska spomenila 1502. as turkey fort. Today Makarska has about 15,000 inhabitants and is a tourist center of the famous Makarska Riviera. It is surrounded by the Park, and another four small settlements of which one is called Makar by which it got its name.
Makarska has a pleasant Mediterranean climate, long hot summers and sandy beach 2 km long, which attracts many tourists every year.
